To help celebrate the cover reveal for Rise of a Rector, I thought I'd give you a sneak peak at the opening paragraph for Rise of a Rector. Here it is: This was not how Eren had pictured spending the last day of her senior year, but it had to be done. Her best friend Caitlin clutched her hand so tightly it was starting to cut off the circulation. If they didn’t get this over with soon her fingers would go numb. Eren’s cousin Fane stood to Caitlin’s left looking as though he was sharing her misery, which he probably was considering how close the two of them were. How Caitlin had managed to keep her and Fane’s relationship from her parents this long was a mystery to Eren. That's right, they're finally telling Caitlin's parents! A lot of tough decisions are coming for Eren's Society in this novel and this is just the first of those decisions. It's finally here, the cover reveal for Rise of a Rector , the final novel in my channeler series (due out this October). A cry arises from new and untried lungs, filling the room with its exuberance. The sound draws me closer to the birthing bed. Spent, the mother lies back upon the sweat-soaked pillows, her labored breathing beginning to return to normal. I pull my iridescent wings in close to my back to better fit within the small, crowded room. Handmaidens part before me, bowing. The midwife meets my gaze for but a moment, then lowers her eyes as she steps back. Moonlight spills in the nearby window, illuminating the cradle from which the cry emits. A hum builds within my chest, making me feel as though my soul is a tuning fork. The sensation grows stronger with each step I take. It’s coming, the final book in my channeler series, Rise of a Rector . Though the scheduled release date is for the first of October, it’s looking like it will be a few weeks earlier (if all goes well, fingers crossed). This week on the #WritersRoad (a weekly reoccurring chat on Twitter that I co-host) we chatted about reviews, tours and launches. What works for author, what they should do, shouldn't do, that kind of thing. It was a great chat, I hope you had a chance to drop in. #WriteTip: When going through the editing process, keep those chapters that you end up deleting, especially the one's on back story. Those tidbits can make excellent promotional material and could even turn into a novella that you can price at free to help get your name out there. Skeptical? It worked for me. My novella, Born Of Fire has been downloaded 10,000 (yay, can you believe it?! *dances in confetti*) times this month alone (however it takes a lot of work and getting the word out on the right sites to accomplish this).
