Wednesday Writing Goal~Breaks End

Last week I had a much needed break from writing and now I'm totally recharged and ready to go. And it's a good thing because I have a writer's retreat coming up in less than two weeks! In Hawaii no less. Yep really. First I'll be spending a week there with my better half, then my writerly friends arrive and the work begins. I couldn't be more excited.

And I also have a massive blog tour launching on the 21st for To Ride A Puca during which there will be epic giveaways of signed physical books by some of my very favorite authors. You won't want to miss a day of it, trust me! Which of course means I'll be checking in on the blogs participating~and on this one of course~to say hi to everyone while I'm enjoying the beach and sun. There will be new prizes each week with the Puca tour so be sure to stop by often. The entry form with be on each post here on my blog to make it easy to enter.

And guess what, To Ride A Puca has released!!! It's available in both hardback and eBook. Here it is on B&N, Amazon, The Book Depository. More links to come soon.

    I think I can fit one of the suitcases if it's a really big one. That way I can join you on that writer's retreat to Hawaii :-)

    Okay, perhaps I'll just enjoy Hawaii vicariously through you. That sounds safer.

    Hmmm, you'll be discussing writing on the beach; I'll be wearing headphones to drown out the sound of sawing, drilling, ripping, and swearing as my bathroom gets remodeled. Hmmmm, I need a new bathroom, but dang!

Banned Books Week Hop And Giveaway

Today I'm post-poning the creature feature to take part in a very important blogfest honoring banned books. It was brought to my attention by the fantastic I Am A Reader Not A Writer blog . Nearly every one of the great Ellen Hopkins's novels has been banned somewhere. She writes about things that challenge kids today, sex, drugs, prostitution, terrible things for sure, but things kids are dealing with whether we like it or not. Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak, about a girl who is raped, is banned in many places. Others may surprise you such as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The House of Night novels by P.C. Cast, The Golden Compass novels by Philip Pullman, and the Vampire Academy novels by Richelle Mead. There are so many more that it saddens me to go on.
