A New Novel and Call for Cover Reveal Participants

It's finally official, my first epic fantasy novel, The Dragon Empire, is releasing in Spring of Next year! To celebrate I'm doing a cover reveal in January (official reveal date is Monday January 14th but you can post any time after that as well) and I'd love it if all of you would like to participate. You don't have to do much if you don't want to, I'll do all the work for you with a guest post! For those who would like to participate, I'll send out a guest post for you to put up on your blog. And any time you have in January~or even February if you're really booked~would be fantastic and hugely appreciated. To help me out and be a part of it, shoot me an email or leave me a comment below with a way to contact you. Or, you can sign up over at Xpresso Reads Book Tours. 

I'm crazy excited but also a bit nervous as I am venturing a wee bit out of the young adult genre on this one. It's more of a new adult novel than YA. For me this isn't so much a metamorphosis as it is getting back to my roots. Adult fantasy is what I began writing long ago and it is where my heart lies. So this step closer to it feels very natural and right to me. I hope my fans will feel the same!

The Dragon Empire will still be appropriate for older YA, it just isn't written with YA as the primary target audience. The beauty of it is, it isn't really written with any target audience in mind. This one just flowed from that wonderful creative place that demands a writer to write. To add it to your Goodreads list, and to read more about it, click here.

Banned Books Week Hop And Giveaway

Today I'm post-poning the creature feature to take part in a very important blogfest honoring banned books. It was brought to my attention by the fantastic I Am A Reader Not A Writer blog . Nearly every one of the great Ellen Hopkins's novels has been banned somewhere. She writes about things that challenge kids today, sex, drugs, prostitution, terrible things for sure, but things kids are dealing with whether we like it or not. Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak, about a girl who is raped, is banned in many places. Others may surprise you such as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The House of Night novels by P.C. Cast, The Golden Compass novels by Philip Pullman, and the Vampire Academy novels by Richelle Mead. There are so many more that it saddens me to go on.
