A Birthday Giveaway

Today I'm another year older and wiser. Well okay, at least another year older. Truly though, it has been an eventful year during which I learned a lot, made some great new friends, and even had a few major life changes for the better. All in all, a very good year.

To celebrate I'm giving away a signed paperback (by me) of the Winter Wonders anthology in which I have a story alongside some amazing, award winning authors. The stories span across many genres; contemporary, magical realism, dystopian, steampunk, fantasy, and more. Before we get to the giveaway though, if you haven't already signed up to take part in my big cover reveal, drop by Xpresso Book Tours to sign up!

To enter, and to help me celebrate my birthday with some likes and follows and such, I hope you'll fill out the Rafflecopter form below:

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The contest is open to international contestants. However, if you live outside the continental U.S., the prize will be an eBook instead of a paperback. Sorry, but I can't afford the shipping to a foreign address right after the holidays.

A New Novel and Call for Cover Reveal Participants

It's finally official, my first epic fantasy novel, The Dragon Empire, is releasing in Spring of Next year! To celebrate I'm doing a cover reveal in January (official reveal date is Monday January 14th but you can post any time after that as well) and I'd love it if all of you would like to participate. You don't have to do much if you don't want to, I'll do all the work for you with a guest post! For those who would like to participate, I'll send out a guest post for you to put up on your blog. And any time you have in January~or even February if you're really booked~would be fantastic and hugely appreciated. To help me out and be a part of it, shoot me an email or leave me a comment below with a way to contact you. Or, you can sign up over at Xpresso Reads Book Tours

I'm crazy excited but also a bit nervous as I am venturing a wee bit out of the young adult genre on this one. It's more of a new adult novel than YA. For me this isn't so much a metamorphosis as it is getting back to my roots. Adult fantasy is what I began writing long ago and it is where my heart lies. So this step closer to it feels very natural and right to me. I hope my fans will feel the same!

The Dragon Empire will still be appropriate for older YA, it just isn't written with YA as the primary target audience. The beauty of it is, it isn't really written with any target audience in mind. This one just flowed from that wonderful creative place that demands a writer to write. To add it to your Goodreads list, and to read more about it, click here.

Changing Face of Blogger

In my Blogger feed that shows all the lovely blogs I follow, I've been noticing an interesting trend lately. More and more writers and bloggers are blogging less and less. And they're visiting other blogs less and less as well. It's sad because I miss my old friends. But, I hope it means something good, that they're deeply inspired and are too busy writing.

On the flip side, I've noticed more and more book bloggers (reviewers) blogging. I love this trend because I get to read about all the great books out there and it gives me food for my muse. And also because I love book bloggers. They are the life's blood of the industry in many ways. What I don't see is a lot of comments on many of their sites. Authors, writers, I implore you, support your book bloggers, comment on their posts. They give so much back to those of us with books out. And even if you don't have one out, if you're a writer, chances are that you will someday and then you'll see that these wonderful people are worth their weight in gold. A word to the wise: For the love of sanity, always be nice, especially if it is your book. What you write online is chiseled in stone and can destroy you.

What trends are you noticing in blogs? Do you follow book bloggers/reviewers? Do you comment on their blogs?

Holiday Must Have Gift Idea #2

With the holidays right around the corner I'll be featuring must have gifts to help those of you who may need ideas. Neverlove by Angela Brown, and it blew me away. This novel just released and already it's receiving outstanding reviews, with good reason. Here is a bit about it:

For Abigail Bishop, life has reached its final low, and seventeen doesn't seem such a bad age to die.

For Basil Hines, perfection is the key to earning his parents' love, especially his mother. He never suspected sharing this thought with a friend would bring hellish results.

Abigail's rash decision, and failure to take her own life, leads her to V'Salicus Academy, a place to start anew, become a Cleanser, a guide to show lost souls the way to The Gates for Judgment. Basil ends up duty bound to hell, his soul gambled and lost to the Devourer, all for the price of a few words. As the devil's newest Harvestor, Basil must steal lost souls to feed his new master's constant craving.

In their new roles in life, love is forbidden, but when their paths cross, true love is what Abigail and Basil finally discover in each other. Can they hold tight to their love, or will duty trump all, leaving them both to a fate of Neverlove?

AmazonB&N, and for a limited time, you can order a signed paperback right from Angela! I recommend this for readers who enjoyed Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick or Lacrimosa by Christine Fonseca. Some dark elements may not be suitable for younger readers.

It’s been three thousand years since the fall of Azzaziel and the rebirth of evil; three thousand years since the Sentinal Order, an elite group of warrior angels, returned to Celestium. Their job—rid Earth of the dark creatures, the UnHoly. And with luck, end Azza’s rule.

As if casting out demons isn’t hard enough, five-hundred-year-old Nesy has to masquerade as a teenage girl to do it. Nesy is the best of the Sentinals. She never makes mistakes, never hesitates, never gets emotionally involved. Until she meets Aydan.

He is evil incarnate; a fallen angel that feeds off the souls of others. Everything Nesy is supposed to hate. But she can’t, because he’s also the love of her former life as a human girl—a life that ended too soon, tying her to emotions she was never supposed to feel.

Now Nesy must choose between doing her duty—damning Aydan to the fiery depths of hell—or saving him, and condemning herself. And her choice may cost her, and Celestium, far more than anyone realizes.

What 17-year-old boy wouldn’t be tempted by the promise of power and control – no matter what form that promise came in?
Seth knew exactly what he would do with power and control. He’d be well on his way to a wrestling scholarship, his dad could stop working so hard to make ends meet, and he’d forever have the heart of his girlfriend, Sandpoint High’s most beautiful girl.

For Seth, the temptation was much too strong to resist. And why should he? The way he saw it, he had everything to gain.

But when he unknowingly invites another soul to share his body, Seth discovers that not all power is good – especially when it was never his to wield. And when the soul reveals its true intentions, will Seth have the strength to fight it or would death be less painful?

A modern day medieval village teeming with spirit activity is no place for sixteen-year-old psychic and ghost whisperer Indigo Eady. Not when all she wants is to forget about these supposed gifts. After all, when needed most, it didn’t help save her father.
After her father’s death, Indigo moves to a new town and has the chance to start over where nobody knows about her psychic abilities. Hiding her secret is easy until the ghost of Bart Bagley ruins everything by barging in and begging her to solve his murder. Tempted to ignore him, she only relents because he was the father of her new friend, Badger. That and the survivor’s guilt she feels over her own father’s death.

A murder investigation is hard enough without the disruption of interfering ghosts and a mysterious soul collector with her name topping its list. But when Indigo’s psychic abilities short-circuit, sparks start to fly in more than one direction. The resulting mishaps compromise the success of the investigation and put the budding but fragile attraction between Indigo and Badger at risk.

When the body count mounts and a suspect ends up dead, Badger becomes a “person of interest" and they must surge ahead to solve the murders before they become the next victims.

Nothing can explain to Aydan Fulbert how she survived the savage attack in the woods. Why her left eye, instead of being blinded by the injuries she'd sustained, had simply turned a shocking shade of silver. And nothing can explain the fact that she can hear the Stranger speaking in her mind - or that she can answer him back without using her mouth.
Nothing can explain it - unless he's telling the truth.

Nothing can explain the things the Stranger knows about her - things that she, until just a few hours ago, hadn't known herself: that she'd healed faster from her injuries than was humanly possible. That the cruel family she'd been raised by isn't biologically hers. That her stepfather is now hell-bent on bringing her to his own form of justice for a crime she didn't commit.

Nothing can explain it - unless he's telling the truth.

Nothing can explain why she so easily agreed to go with the Stranger. Why she didn't find the notion of another world ludicrous and impossible. Why she didn't cut and run the minute he explained where he wanted to take her.

Nothing can explain it - unless she believes he's telling the truth.

Aydan knows she's being intentionally naive. She knows her decision to follow the stranger is at best, reckless. At worst, deadly.

...unless he's telling the truth.

At a $100 value!!! If you’ve been wanting/needing a cover for a book you have planned to release, now is your chance to enter to win a personalized design that is both unique and perfectly tailored to your novel. I've designed for acclaimed and award winning authors and now I could be designing for you!

Before we get to the contest entry, don't forget to check out all the other fabulous people joining in on INDIE-giving and enter all the fun giveaways, read the great posts, and spread the cheer.

So how do you enter? Help spread the word about CP Design by filling out the easy to use Rafflecopter form below (with ready-made tweets, Facebook likes, also blogging about the contest, putting up a sidebar button on your blog, that kind of thing) and gather points for the contest.

Want to win it for a gift for someone? I will be happy to send along a nice 'certificate' to them that you can put under the tree.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

More contest details: The winner can upgrade to a premium eBook cover (up to five images can be used for this type of cover) for only $50 (normally $150) or they can upgrade to a paperback cover by paying the difference of $100 (normally it costs $200). And I’m always happy to do paperback upgrades later for the difference only.

Celebrating YA Books with a Giveaway

The fabulous author of YA sci-fi, Beth Revis is doing a giveaway worthy of her fabulousness, and just in time for the season of giving. Check this out!

One lucky winner is going to win an entire library of SIGNED YA BOOKS. That's right:
Every single book in the giveaway is SIGNED. And when Beth says library, she means library--there are nearly FIFTY books up for grabs! Wanna see the stash?

First up, you'll get a signed copy of ALL Beth's books:

To see the rest of the signed books you can win check out the link to the right, on my sidebar just below my followers. --->

And as a last special treat, if the entries for this contest hit 10,000--which I know you guys can do--I'm adding more books to the grouping, After, the dystopian anthology I was able to be a part of--and it's signed by eight of the authors in the antho, including Gregory Maguirre and Ellen Datlow!

Bonus book!

SO! How do you win this plethora of SIGNED YA books?! There are several ways to enter: you can tweet about it, Facebook, etc., but I figured that with a bigger prize, people who do extra deserve extra entries.

The simplest way to earn extra entries is to share the graphic I designed for the contest (and also please share this link, too). To make it easy for you to share this, Beth has included the html for the graphic at that link. You get extra entries for putting it in the sidebar of your website, but you can also share it on any social media as well. Best of luck! Enter HERE.

INDIE-giving Blogfest and Giveaway

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to open my heart and share thanks. This year I have all of you, my wonderful readers and friends to be thankful for. Many of you are Indie authors who I've met along my journey, which makes this the perfect time to give back something special.

My lovely friends and fellow authors, the Indelibles are putting on INDIE-giving in which we take a week to show our thanks. The blogfest will run from November 18-25 (the Sunday-to-Sunday surrounding Thanksgiving). During this week, each participating blogger will reflect on her or his blessings and share something with visitors. Many will be doing giveaways, myself included! Others may choose to share the best piece of advice they wished they'd known before they published. The choice of what to share will be as unique as the individual blogger. The only requirement is that you open your heart in the spirit of thankfulness and giving.

Although this is something we could do individually, banding together to share our blessings seemed like the right thing to do. If you'd like to join us, go to this link and add your name to the list, then get your post ready for November 18th. Whether you're an Indie author or just love reading Indie books, we hope you'll join us. We can't wait to see what blessings have been bestowed upon you this year. And mark your calendars indie authors because I'll be giving away a personalized cover design to one lucky person!

Join us for INDIE-giving!

November New Release Not To Be Missed

A friend of mine, Leigh Moore, has just released a fabulous new historical novel that you won't want to miss! Here is a bit about it:

Trapped in the underground theater world of 1890s New Orleans, Hale Ferrer has only one goal: escape. But not without Teeny, the orphan-girl she rescued from the streets and promised to protect.

Freddie Lovel, Hale's wealthy Parisian suitor, seems to be the easy solution. If only his touch could arouse her interest like Beau's, the penniless stagehand who captures her heart.

Denying her fears, Hale is poised to choose love until an evil lurking in their cabaret-home launches a chain of events that could cost her everything.

Mature YA/light historical/theater romance

Leigh Talbert Moore is a wife and mom by day, a writer by day, a reader by day, a freelance editor when time permits, a chocoholic, a caffeine addict, a lover of YA and new adult romance (really any great love story), a beach bum, and occasionally she sleeps.

-THE TRUTH ABOUT FAKING is her debut YA romance.
-ROUGE is the first book in her mature-YA/new adult romance series.

Leigh loves hearing from readers; stop by and say hello:

News About a New Novella

In honor of the season, I am releasing a novella this winter (hopefully in time for the holiday) that will be FREE! It will be in the channeler series. Ever wonder what happened after Aiden was born? This is Chantica's story (Eren's grandmother) about how she fought for him and justice. Here is the cover:

I love Pinterest, am becoming quite addicted in fact, but I am now watermarking my designs because of it. Feel free to pin any of my watermarked designs (without altering them). The channeler series can be found on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, The Book Depository, and more.
