Monday's Muse~Inspiration and News

Image
My muse: Fall is always an incredibly inspiring time for me, the colors, the smells, the tastes. It is my favorite time of year and doesn't last long enough. For those who don't know yet, I've caved and joined Pinterest (see my nifty sidebar picture) and I'm finding a lot of inspiration there. The fun part is, I can post pictures that inspire my writing. I'm loving it. But one does have to be careful about the rights of images that they pin. There are sites that approve Pinterest, such as Barnes and Noble, these are the safest to pin from. I plan on only using sites that approve it and my own pictures. My news: It's officially release day for the final novel in my channeler series, Rise of a Rector ! It is currently available in eBook and expected to be available in hardback in about a week. I'm deliriously happy and exhausted but in a good way. Today is the first leg of my tour and I'm over at Candace's Book Blog , or rather, Aiden is, to talk...

Wednesday Writing Goals~Start Anew

My goal last week was to finish the final rounds of editing on the project I was working on, and I did! *throws confetti and dances in it* Finally I feel as though I've broken free of the undertow and am starting to rise above water. Now I can relax and get ready for my release celebration and tour for Rise of a Rector coming up next week. I've been MIA a bit on the blog scene lately because I've had a lot to do domestically as well, what with moving to a new house and working on selling the one we're currently in. Plus, the holidays are coming, fast. Hang on to your pocket books peeps, it's just around the corner. But before that craziness starts I'm embracing my favorite holiday of all, Halloween! My tour for Rise won't be like most tours, of course there will be stops at other blogs and interviews, but here on my blog I'll be taking part in some Halloween fun. Check back next week for more on that. As for reading goals, I've been going slow be...

Image
Today for the Channeler's Choice tour I'm over at author Judith Graves' site , and author Christine Fonseca's site. I hope you'll stop by and say hi. Now on to the fun! I'm so excited for Second Skin! As you know I've been eagerly waiting for it since I finished book 1, Under My Skin, last year. Thank you so much for joining us to celebrate it's release! Judith: Aww…thanks, Heather! You’ve been such a great support over the last few years and are a model of how authors helping authors should be our focus – as it’s our strength. She's humble and sweet. You've got to love that peeps! From the way Under My Skin ends, I'm guessing Eryn comes into her own a bit more in Second Skin. Can you tell us what the most difficult part of writing book 2 was? Judith: Eryn steps up to the plate in Second Skin, she doesn’t have much choice if she wants to save the souls of the humans residing in Redgrave. The creature of the week, a night mare / anc...

Wednesday Writing Goal~New Chapter & Interview/Giveaway

Last week my writing goal was to finish the chapter I was working on and start another new one I need to add to my work in progress. And I made it! But just by the skin of my teeth. Wait, what exactly does that mean? Hmmm, I may have to Google that. How did all of you do on your goals for last week? In side news, Giselle over at Xpresso Reads (one of my favorite review sites) has interviewed me and put together a lovely post for the Channeler's Choice blog tour. I love the header she made, it's GORGEOUS. Seriously, you have to click here even if only to see the header. But I hope you'll stick around to read the interview and leave me a comment over there because I'm giving away two copies of BORN OF FIRE to two people who comment at Xpresso Reads! :)

Tuesday Writing Tip & Giveaway

Image
Today for for the Channeler's Choice tour I'm over at author Laura Pauling's blog where I'm giving away two eBook copies of Born Of Fire so be sure to stop by and enter! Scroll down to the bottom of the post for the Born Of Fire giveaway entry. Author Karen Amanda Hooper is also giving me a shout out on her blog and I hope you'll stop by there and say hi as well.  Atmosphere can make your novel exceptional or it can make it forgettable. How much you put in depends on what kind of reading experience you want your readers to have. A little can go a long way, as is often the case in some genre fiction, or more may be necessary, such as with fantasy or literary fiction. To be well informed in what is common for your genre you need to be well read in your genre. Of course you can always be original, but beware that such a tactic must be done exceptionally well to be well received. Writing Tip: Beware of the atmosphere you’re setting in your novel. For a richer at...
