City Owl Auction for the Ukraine Coming Up!

My friends, collegues, people I consider family in every way that matters, are going through something unimaginable with the attacks on the Ukraine. One of the founding mothers of the press I am published with was born in the Ukraine. And my publisher's book cover designers, the outstanding Miblart, are based in the Ukraine. But they aren't standing idly by, and neither am I. 

City Owl Press will be donating all proceeds for the month of March from books purchased from their website to support the Ukrainian people. I hope you'll visit their website, click that Shop button, and grab yourself and/or your friends a few books. 

On top of that, to raise additional funds, City Owl will be doing an auction of signed books and publishing related services. You'll be able to bid on signed paperbacks, critiques, edits, swag, merchandise, and amazing gifts and experiences donated by our City Owl authors and editors. I will be offering up for auction a special box filled with my signed books, swag, a plush wolf, and a Fenrir necklace.

Movie Review: 47 Ronin

For those who don't know, I love martial arts. It has been an integral part of my life since I was fifteen. I absolutely love a well choreographed fight scene. While I'm not big on the traditional old foreign martial arts film style of using wires to an extreme, I do love an excellent martial arts movie. 47 Ronin surprised me in a very big, and wonderful, way. I'm not sure why, but I didn't expect much out of it. Unfortunately that means I didn't go see it in the theater and I regret that deeply. This would have been phenomenal on the big screen. The story was excellent, a good, Americanized retelling of the tale of the 47 Ronin. The acting was compelling and I loved Keannu in this role. His fight scenes in particular were quite spectacular. I was reminded of Brad Pitt's scenes in Troy, only better. Yes, you read that right. Keannu's fight scenes were even better. I can hardly believe I wrote that, being such a big fan of Brad in Troy. It's finally official, my first epic fantasy novel, The Dragon Empire , is releasing in Spring of Next year! To celebrate I'm doing a cover reveal in January (official reveal date is Monday January 14th but you can post any time after that as well) and I'd love it if all of you would like to participate.
