What St. Patrick's Day is to Me
Today isn't about kisses, drinking, or even just a saint for me. It's an important day for me to reflect on all the Irish have done in this wonderful new country that they made their new home, and to remember their struggle back on their own shores. When I lift a glass today it will be to both my ancestors that came here to America so long ago, and to the dream of a free Ireland.
Nicely said, Heather. A WONDERFUL reason to celebrate. Have a memorable day....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michael! St. Paddy's day is always memorable in my house. :) I hope you're doing good!
DeleteHere here! I'll raise a glass with you. :)
ReplyDelete*clinks glasses* Thanks DL!
DeleteYes, we of Irish descent (and Lakota, too for me) have to remember the bards of Ireland and the heroes of whom they sang. Hibbs had a "unique" meeting with a leprechaun over at Meilori's for the day's celebration!
ReplyDeleteWe must indeed. I'll be sure to stop by and visit with Hibbs!
DeleteNice post, Heather! I like Ireland, but never been. It seems to have such a charming milieu!
ReplyDeleteNo time like the present to visit!
DeleteBeautiful Heather! My St. Patrick's Day was spent driving 8 hours alone. Much to think about. Much to be grateful for. And this beautiful land we live, is one of those things. Thank you for a great post!! I hope your day was special!
ReplyDeleteA day of reflection is always good. But driving, girl, you're a pilot, why would you drive eight hours anywhere?! LOL!
