Wednesday Writing Goal~Fail!

I did not make my Wednesday writing goal for last week. *hangs head in shame* With all the beta reading I've been doing I just can't keep up with my goals for my own work. But I desperately love doing both and don't want to give either up! That's it, the 'day' job has just got to go. LOL! Don't I wish!

The good news is, I'm very close to making my goal so on that note, I'm off to work as hard as I can on it before going off to the time-consuming soul-sucking abyss, I mean 'day' job. ;)

How about you? Did you reach your writing goals for last week?

  1. I didn't get my writing goal for last week done... I have to finish editing my book ASAP!! Good luck with your goals!

  2. I think all day jobs should be abolished...Sigh. Back to reality.

The one major goal I'm happy about is finishing my last revision cycle of the novel. Yay! Now it's on to tweaking and polishing and beta readers.

  3. Um . . . I got zero, zilch, zippo writing done last week. And the week before that. Bad me! Bad me!

  4. Sometimes life happens...what can you do? My kids are home right now so I don't have time for anything. Sigh.

  5. I made progress but hadn't set any specific wrting goal for add words to my novel. I have a couple of weeks before I am an epic fail in finishing one of my WiPs that I want to finish by the middle of this month. So, soul-sucking abyss-of-a-day-job aside, I HAVE to buckle down to make it happen.

I wish you luck in meeting your writing goal.

  6. Jess, we're both in the same boat I see! Best of luck to you too!

Karen, totally! So glad you finished your revision cycle. Congrats!

Shannon, must be the holidays. Now I don't feel so bad. ;)

  7. Houseguest until the 10th--my excuse!*!* No writing done last week, but this week, um, not so much either! Soon.

  8. I've so many goals that I run in circles like a dog trying to catch it's tail... and mine seems to be of the stubby kind LOL!

  9. Got caught up in the holidays so didn't start the goal setting yet but starting this week. Good news is that I was able to write three blog posts and schedule them for this week so I don't have to think about the blog and can concentrate on actual writing for the rest of the week.

    And Karen...I'm with you :D

  10. Day job description is so funny. We've all been there. Keep that writing goal and you'll be able to mark that abyss on the "once was" list.

  11. Kind of. I wanted to finish a chapter in one of my WIPs and I'm about three quarters of the way through it.

  12. Linda, a good excuse!

Lorelei, I think we have the same dog, I mean goals. ;)

Yelena, that sounds like a great idea. I should have done that! Good for you on the blog posts!

  13. Karlene, ah that we have. The 'once was' list, love that! That's my goal for 2012!

    Lin, you're almost there!

  14. Hang in there!
At least you are writing and betaing--I haven't done either since middle of last year :(

  15. Good luck with your writing goal!

I think I need to set goals for each week; I have an ultimate one of finishing rewrites by June, but I could probably use an extra weekly boost too.

  16. Brandi, oh no! I hope you get the chance soon!

Golden Eagle, the short goals really help me a lot. I highly recommend them!

  17. Just the fact that you HAD a writing goal beat me! Although I had some horrible testing to go through for a new certification at work and today I finished - and just barely passed by the skin of my teeth. Oh well, I'll take it!

  18. You constantly amaze me Heather.... How do you do it? Even thought you didn't make your goal, you are still plugging away... I know you will get there.

As for me my goals for the next few weeks is to prepare for the SCBWI conference in NYC. I am beyond freaked about it. It's my first. I wish I knew of one blogger buddy going.

  19. Erica, congratulations on finishing your cert testing and passing! In the end, that's all that really matters, not the score. ;)

Michael, thank you, I'm totally flattered! I wish I could go to the SCBWI NY conference. Wow, it's your first conference?! You'll do great, don't worry. I'm so excited for you!

  20. I'm pretty sure beta reading counts towards writing goals - even if they're someone else's goals, so just look on it as helping someone else achieve theirs :-)
