Tuesday Teaser~Foreboding Feelings
This teaser is from my channeler novella, Born of Fire, which is now free on Amazon and holding strong in the top 100 for both contemporary fantasy and science fiction, fantasy and magic catagories.
In only a few blocks their little home with its quaint American picket fence came into sight. Seeing it strengthened the sense of foreboding until it felt like it was choking the breath from her. From within, her son gave her a hard kick that sent a pain shooting through her back. She rubbed her belly and tried to think soothing thoughts.

“Easy Aiden, mum’s alright,” she lied.
Since Barnes and Noble isn't wanting to play along and set it at free, if you'd like a free copy for your Nook just let me know in the comments and I'd be happy to send the file to you. If you have a Kindle, just click on the title above and it will take you to Amazon where you can download it.
Your turn, any good teasers for me? Either from your work in progress, or from something great that you're reading? Leave it in the comments!
Ooo! I read it and just haven't had a chance to get back with you.
ReplyDeleteI loved your writing style, but I have so many questions after reading Born of Fire. Mostly I want to know the rest of the story! That's good right?
Thank you, that's so sweet! And yes, a very good thing! No worries, they're all answered in The Secret of Spruce Knoll. :)
DeleteFrom the tail end of my WIP:
ReplyDeleteAs he walked over to examine the tree more closely the ring in his pocket, his mother’s ring, tapped against his thigh. Kollin took it out. He watched the sun reflect off its surface. The raised crest—a rearing dragon with mantled wings and fire erupting from its open maw—cast shadows over the rest of the ring’s face. The ring dug into his palm and when he opened his clenched hang the crest was imprinted on his skin.
This is as much a part of me as my Corian heritage. The Merathain are my people too. And we are the ones who’ve been persecuted by an unjust emperor.
Kollin slipped the ring onto the middle finger of his right hand.
Oooo, that sounds intriguing! Thanks for the excerpt!
DeleteI have it!! Just haven't had a chance to read yet. Looking forward to it, though. A teaser...
ReplyDeleteSuddenly, arms slide under my bare midsection, bunching my T-shirt over my bikini top. I blink, making out a dark image and broad shoulders, but my eyelids quickly falter. The scent of musk mingles with the stench of frayed wires and soda.
I sense emotions, what lies beneath his energy, but it’s much stronger than the emotions at the store. There’s longing, isolation, and regret.
Stubble brushes against my cheek, as breath heats my earlobe.
“I felt you for miles.”
Hearing this foreign voice yet tender whisper breaks the levy that traps my tears. His hold on my body tightens, the water now lapping my chest. Fingers trace my lips, and I fight to open my eyes, but nothing works. Water bubbles around me, as my neck goes wobbly, the weight of moisture heavy on my face. My consciousness wanes.
WOW! I'm dying to know what happens next! Great excerpt SA!

ReplyDeleteAn uncomfortable distance fills the gaps between our words. She’s right in some ways. She doesn’t need a shrink. But she does need to remember. I need her to remember; remember and still choose me. Choose us.
I love that excerpt Christine! Thanks for sharing it with us!
