Last week my goal was to complete the new ending for my work in progress. I failed. *sigh* but I'm close, as in like, maybe a page or two away. The 'day' job has been draining and marketing has kept me busy with almost every other free moment. This week I'll get it done though, I'm determined! As for reading goals, I finished reading Glimpse by Stacey Wallace Benefiel and enjoyed it. A girl who can glimpse the future, a family filled with drama, and parts of it take place in my old stomping ground. Can't go wrong there. And the eBook is free right now on both Kindle and Nook so it costs you nothing to check it out. How about you? How did you do on your writing or reading goals last week? My writing break has come to an end and I’m moving on to working on the revision of book 3 in the channeler series, which now has a title, Rise of a Rector, whoo hoo!!! Compass Press has set a tentative release date of October for it. *happy dance* So , I’ve been working on a new ending that I’m totally loving. I didn’t finish it but that’s okay, my goal was to start working on it. I blew my reading goals out of the water and read a few hundred pages of Tears of the Broken last week. The character development is wonderful and it’s really pulling me in. That’s a lot for me, normally I read much slower as I am usually working on writing my own books. How about you, did you meet you writing goals this week? What about your reading goals?

Last week my writing (#writegoal for my Twitter peeps) was easy; take a much needed break since my edits were complete. Easy, yeah right. I failed. I totally didn't achieve my goal of a break. I edited another project, wrote bits on a new chapter for a project, and worked on a cover. *sigh* I'm going to try again this week. We'll see how that goes. I've decided to add to Wednesday's post, reading goals. Partially because for an author I think it's just as important as writing, and partially because that way I feel like I met at least one goal. ;) So, last week's reading goal was to start reading a fabulous new author, and I did! I began reading Tears of the Broken , a YA paranormal by Aussie author A.M. Hudson and it's great so far! How about you, did you achieve your writing goals last week? How about your reading goals?

Last week my writing goal was to finish the chapter I was working on and start another new one I need to add to my work in progress. And I made it! But just by the skin of my teeth. Wait, what exactly does that mean? Hmmm, I may have to Google that. How did all of you do on your goals for last week? Last week my goal was to finish editing a short to add to Born Of Fire. It gives a glimpse into Aiden's life and personality a bit farther than Born Of Fire does.The short helps the story come full circle and gives a better look at what Aiden must overcome. I wrote this short because Compass Press is releasing a special edition of Born Of Fire & Dies Irae (Christine Fonseca's Requiem novella) together in a paperback version! I'm so excited about this because it not only means that Born Of Fire will be next to another amazing novella, but that I'll get to hold it in my hands! And so will you! For anyone who already purchased Born Of Fire, let me know and I'll be happy to send you a copy of the updated version in Nook or Kindle format. What a week! It was another one of those that seemed to be over before it started. This year is already turning out to be a whirlwind that I can't seem to step out of. But I'm going to take that as a good thing and ride it. Last week my writing goal was to finishing reading and approve my proof of Channeler's Choice, and I did! That was one deadline I barely made. Whew! No time to catch my breath though. There's that secret project of awesomeness that I have to start on, like now. Off to it I go. How about you, did you make your writing goals for last week? What are they for this week? Remember, even small goals help us move forward.

In between editing and cover designing I spent last week preparing to enter the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. I went back and forth on whether or not to enter for a while. I love being indie and having my own press and that won't change. However, a bit of traditional success and marketing for a different novel sure wouldn't hurt either. The best of both worlds, so to speak, one feeding the other.  For those who don't know, ABNA is a free contest with a great opportunity. There are two winners, adult fiction, and young adult. Each gets a $15,000 advance and contract with the big six publisher Penguin. If you're wondering whether or not to enter, you should! But do it quick, there are a limited amount of spots and they fill up fast.  But beware, the competition if extremely fierce. There are some outstanding writers entering. Last week my goal was to start writing a new ending for my third book. My muse finally came out of hiding and I got a great start on it. I'm so excited about how this series is coming together. It's turning out so much better than my original vision for it was. How about you? Did you achieve your writing goals for last week? How are you doing on staying motivated in the new year? For those of you who don't know, I've been working on a short story for an anthology, and I finally finished it! I'm absolutely psyched and can't wait to share this one with all of you. The Indelibles and I are putting together an anthology from the eyes of one of our male characters. Many of you Spruce Knoll fans will be excited to know that my short story is told from Fane's point of view. I loved getting inside his head and I hope you will too. The anthology, In His Eyes , releases February 14th and it will be free as long as we can get the big corporations to cooperate! How about you, did you achieve your goals for last week? I did not make my Wednesday writing goal for last week. *hangs head in shame* With all the beta reading I've been doing I just can't keep up with my goals for my own work. But I desperately love doing both and don't want to give either up! That's it, the 'day' job has just got to go. LOL! Don't I wish! The good news is, I'm very close to making my goal so on that note, I'm off to work as hard as I can on it before going off to the time-consuming soul-sucking abyss, I mean 'day' job. ;) How about you? Did you reach your writing goals for last week?

I have so many this week I'm not sure where to start. I am editing the short, Born Of Fire, which I hope to release at the beginning of January for all of you (for free, yay!). And my goal is to have the editing and formatting completed this week. A bit of steep goal, but I'm determined to get it done. Then I'm beta reading for two people and my goal is to have their manuscripts done by the end of the week too. I have definitely taken on too much, but what the heck I figure go big for the end of the year. How about you, any big writing goals you'd like to accomplish before the end of the year?

This last week while on vacation I was working on a special writing project that I hope to have finished very soon. It falls somewhere between a short story and a novella and I plan on releasing it for free hopefully before the holiday as a gift to all of you. My goal was to get at least 2,000 new words written on it by the end of the week and I'm thrilled to say I did! It has been far too long since I did a Wednesday Writing Goal post and I'm dying to know how everyone's progress has been going. I'm nearly finished with the latest pass of editing on the second channeler novel. It isn't time to throw confetti yet, but I'm getting closer. It will be to my editor by January easily and that means as long as all goes well, it will be releasing in March! A few more exciting new ventures have been keeping me crazy busy too, one of which I'm ready to announce, the other~almost. You might have noticed the new button just below my blog header, the one titled CP Design. I began searching for cover designers for the other secret venture a few months ago and was blown away by how few are out there. Sure designers that use basic templates are plentiful, but I didn't want to end up with a cover that was similar to anyone else's.
