Monday's Muse~New Author Blog Hop

Last week my inspiration came from a fellow author, the wonderful Susan Kaye Quinn. And in the spirit of New Author Blog Hop (brought to us by the lovely Saba from Of Thoughts and Words) I wanted to spotlight Susan today. I've been reading Susan's indie debut (she previously published traditionally with Omnific publishing, a sweet novel by the title of Life, Love, And Liberty), a young adult dystopian titled Open Minds. I won't get into the novel too much because I'm doing a review of it over on The Indie Elite blog next week but I will say it was amazing! Here is just a teaser about it:

When everyone reads minds, a secret is a dangerous thing to keep.

Sixteen-year-old Kira Moore is a zero, someone who can't read thoughts or be read by others. Zeros are outcasts who can't be trusted, leaving her no chance with Raf, a regular mindreader and the best friend she secretly loves. When she accidentally controls Raf's mind and nearly kills him, Kira tries to hide her frightening new ability from her family and an increasingly suspicious Raf. But lies tangle around her, and she's dragged deep into a hidden world of mindjackers, where being forced to mind control everyone she loves is just the beginning of the deadly choices before her.

To say Susan is remarkable seems inadequate. Not only does she write outstanding novels, she has designed aircraft engines and worked for NASA (yes, seriously). On top of all that awesome sauce, she is a sweet, giving person who supports others. Trust me, this is one author you don't want to miss out on reading. I'll be sharing more about Open Minds soon on The Indie Elite and I'll be celebrating Susan's launch by joining in on the Open Minds tour next month. I hope you'll join me! I'll be joining in on the New Author Blog Hop (during the date listed on the button) with another great new author to introduce to you next month!
